Joel is a first-generation American and attended Morehouse College for his B.S. in Political Science and Government. He has been a public school teacher for 13 years and serves as Chair of “Black Lives Matter at School”, through which he works on dismantling the school to prison pipeline. He also serves as the Regional Representative for the Boston Teacher’s Union. Outside of his role as a teacher, Joel is an active member and former Chair of Fields Corner Main Street, with which he works to uplift small businesses. He also travels Boston delivering sermons across congregations.
